QB Trevor Siemian Out for the Season with Oblique Injury

Bears backup quarterback Trevor Siemian will only make one start in 2022. That’s because head coach Matt Eberflus announced the 7th pro from Northwestern is having surgery on his oblique and will be out for the season.

It appears the Bears will start Justin Fields this Sunday against the Packers. The franchise quarterback was a full participant in practice Thursday. If he can’t go, Nathan Peterman, recently promoted from the practice squad is the new backup QB.

Chicago also signed Tim Boyle off the Detroit Lions practice squad to be a third-string quarterback option. An official starter has not been named for Sunday’s game, so stay tuned for updates.
