Bears Acquire All-Pro DL Jeffery Simmons in Blockbuster Trade with Titans
The Bears made a big move to upgrade their defense before the trade deadline by acquiring one of the best defensive lineman in football, Jeffery Simmons, from the Titans Thursday. The price was steep, requiring 2027 and 2028 first round picks and a fourth round pick in ’27.
Tennessee just signed the 29-year-old Simmons to a 3-year $105 million contract extension before this season. The Mississippi State alum had a breakout season in 2025 with 11.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss to earn a first team All-Pro selection.
Chicago is taking a big swing here to try an improve a defensive line that has not generated much pressure in 2026. This shows they have moved into win now mode and it’s possible more is coming before the deadline next week.
