This Player is the 2025 Chicago Bears MVP
There are several players on the Chicago Bears’ roster who have been top performers but only one can be their MVP
The 2025 Chicago Bears are nothing like the Bears of the last few seasons. Not even close to be honest. Sure, some of the same players remain from the previous administration, but those guys have morphed into something no one expected in their first year under head coach Ben Johnson’s leadership. They are playing well, winning games, there isn’t any dissension inside the locker room, and, ultimately, they are headed in the right direction.
This Bears season has been stellar, and their future looks bright.
That One Guy
Who, on the current roster, is that one guy who has been there the entire season, leading the team and helping them win? Who has stood out as the team’s most valuable player, the one that they cannot live without? Who’s not necessarily the best guy talent-wise but has the heart, soul, determination, and ability to get this team to where it is today?
Most people think of an MVP as being the team’s quarterback. That is true in many cases, especially on teams with winning records that are heading towards a playoff berth. But in the Bears case, while Caleb Williams is not a bad quarterback and has certainly had his special moments, he is not the MVP of the Bears this year.
There is someone else on this team who deserves this prestigious honor.
The Bears MVP
This will shock a few folks, but the Bears’ MVP for this season, barring any kind of spectacular job by someone else in the final few games, is offensive tackle Darnell Wright. Yes, an offensive lineman is the Bears’ MVP. Why? He’s been the best player on that unit, a unit that is one of the NFL’s best. He’s the epitome of the near-perfection of this unit, which, just a year ago, was one of the NFL’s worst.
The entire offensive line deserves MVP honors as they have done very well in the run and the pass blocking areas. This line has helped keep Williams clean, although Williams has done a great job of getting out of trouble on his own. It’s been a night-and-day difference this year as he has hardly been sacked compared to what he endured in 2024.
The offensive line deserves significant credit.
And Wright is as big a part of this as anyone.
Not The Perfect MVP but Who Is?
Wright has had a few miscues during the season with some penalties, but he has really held his own against some of the better pass-rushing defensive linemen in the NFL. Wright’s numbers, in terms of how offensive linemen are graded, are outstanding. According to Pro Football Focus, he is graded with an overall grade of 77.6 percent. His pass blocking grade is 72.1, and his run blocking grade is 80 percent. This was through the Bears’ first game against the Green Bay Packers.
During that period, Wright played a total of 822 snaps, had 10 penalties, and allowed just two sacks. The penalties are getting under control, still a problem every now and then, of course, but they are getting better. Allowing just two sacks is a monumental achievement and something that makes Wright a superstar.
While some may think that some of the numbers Wright posted don’t qualify him to be the MVP of the team, he has shown so much this season. If you have watched him play in every game, you’ll see what he can do. You can cast aside some of the numbers and look at his play on the field. He’s been very rock solid this year and has become, so far, the best draft choice that general manager Ryan Poles has had. At least right now. Some other players look very good and could surpass Wright in the future. But, for now, he is the best of the bunch.
The Future Is Here
The Bears have clearly exceeded expectations this season. No one thought they would do as well as they did. Now, they may not make it to the Super Bowl, but they are poised to continue their march towards making an appearance there next season with a couple of additional pieces. We know that the offensive line is solid, but some depth needs to be found there. Some of the starters are getting up there in age and will soon need to be replaced. Joe Thuney comes to mind.
But the Bears have finally solved one of their biggest problems, not having anything on the offensive line. Wright is a perfect example of just how far the offensive line and the Bears have come. Perhaps he’s an excellent representative of the entire team because almost everyone on the team is an MVP this season. They have all gone out of their way to make this team a contender, and they will contend for several seasons to come.
