Chicago Bears Score and Recap (Week 10): Bears 24, Giants 20 – Williams Uses Legs to Lead Comeback

For the second week in a row the Bears looked like they were in deep trouble in the fourth quarter, trailing the Giants by 10 points at a snowy Soldier field Sunday. Then Caleb Williams and company repeated their feat from Cincinnati storming back again to win in the final two minutes.

Chicago struck first with an 8-yard touchdown by running back Kyle Monangai in the first quarter. New York responded immediately with their rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart running in a 2-yard TD early in the second quarter. The road team executed an effective two minute drill and kicked a field goal to lead 10-7 at halftime.

Dart had the Giants rolling in the first possession of the third quarter eventually running in his second touchdown from 24 yards out to make it 17-7. The Bears forced a fumble from the opposing quarterback and knocked him out of the game with a concussion on the same play. Cairo Santos booted a short field goal on the ensuing drive to bring the home team within 17-10.

New York drove all the way to the 1 yard line with backup Russell Wilson but settled for a field goal to move ahead 20-10 early in the fourth quarter. Williams was not getting much help from his receivers who dropped numerous passes, then everything suddenly clicked with about five minutes left.

Rome Odunze hauled in a 2-yard touchdown pass after a quarterback run got the ball into the red zone. The Giants quickly went three and out and the Bears got the ball back with three minutes left. They raced right down the field and Williams took a bootleg 17 yards down the sideline for the game-winning TD.

A final New York drive rapidly fizzled and Chicago had a 24-20 victory. (Box score)

Why the Bears Won

They didn’t quit when they were behind in the fourth quarter and Williams took over in the final five minutes.

Key Moment

The Bears had been having trouble stopping the Giants for most of the game but when they needed a stop in the final three minutes they got it.

Stats That Matter

  • This is a second consecutive good game from Williams who threw for 220 yards and a touchdown while running for 63 with another touchdown.
  • Chicago had 171 yards on the ground for another productive day.
  • Odunze went for 80 yards after going without a catch last week.

Bottom Line

These games have not been pretty but the Bears are winning them which is much different than recent years. Williams’ confidence continues to grow with each week and he is really starting to display his mobility. With all the good news going on Chicago’s defense continues to be a problem and it’s probably going to hold them back going forward in 2025.
