Chicago Bears @ Philadelphia Eagles – Week 13 Game Preview: Overview, Keys to Game, Insights
The Bears (8-3) won their fourth consecutive game by less than a touchdown against the Steelers Sunday afternoon. None of the narrow victories have been pretty but Chicago remains in first place as they hit the road for a Black Friday matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.
Philadelphia (8-3) is in first place in the NFC East, however, it hasn’t been as easy as it seemed in 2024. The offense has been in the middle of the pack with All Pro running back Saquon Barkley taking a couple steps back from his incredible season last year. The team is averaging just 23.3 points per game in 2025, which is just the 17th best in the NFL.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts and the passing attack has been inconsistent most of the season after having a great run a year ago. Wide receiver A.J. Brown can still win a game by himself and DeVonta Smith is very dangerous but his status for Friday is up in the air with numerous injuries.
The Eagles defense is loaded with great players and yet the numbers are again mediocre. They have only 22 sacks on the season despite having star defensive tackle Jalen Carter and newly acquired defensive end Jaelan Phillips. They have been stingy in the red zone despite giving up plenty of yards and are allowing only 20.3 points a game.
Philadelphia just blew a 21-point lead to the Cowboys in a loss on Sunday, so they should be pretty motivated for this game. This is without a doubt the most difficult opponent Chicago has faced this season. They are going to have an opportunity to prove they are deserving playoff contenders with a quality performance but it’s not going to be easy.
The Bears are in a position where they don’t need to win this game to make the postseason. That being said, if they do pull off the upset they’re all but assured of a trip to the playoffs. Let’s see if they can surprise everybody and swipe a W in the City Of Brotherly Love.
Where to Watch/Listen
- Friday, November 28 at 2:00pm CT on Amazon Prime, WBBM Radio (English), and WRTO Radio (Spanish).
Keys to Victory
Here are my keys to Friday’s game. If these things happen, the Bears should have a shot to win.
- More accuracy from Caleb Williams. Chicago’s young quarterback has had some issues with the accuracy of his passes. If he can clean it up it will make the offense more efficient.
- Keep Brown in check. The Bears are close to getting one or possibly both of their starting cornerbacks back from injury but it won’t be this week. They need to find a way to keep the Eagles best receiver contained.
- Try to get a running attack going. Chicago has been pretty good at running the ball and they need to keep that going to avoid being one dimensional against a talented defense.
- Get the game to the fourth quarter in striking distance. Ben Johnson has his squad playing their best football at the end of games. If they are in the contest in the final five minutes they have an uncanny ability to come out on top.
Don’t Tell Me the Odds
The Eagles are favored by seven points at home against the Bears Friday afternoon. Vegas expects an average scoring game with the over/under set at 44.5.
It’s Football Weather
The forecast at Lincoln Financial Field Friday afternoon is 44 with occasional clouds and a west wind at 20 miles an hour.
My Prediction
The Eagles are going to be highly motivated after blowing a game to the rival Cowboys. The Bears will hang around early but Philadelphia will pull away in the second half and win 28-17.
