Chicago Bears vs New York Giants – Week 10 Game Preview: Overview, Keys to Game, Insights
The Bears (5-3) somehow pulled out a wild victory over the Bengals last Sunday thanks to a 58-yard Colston Loveland touchdown in the final 30 seconds. The unlikely TD came after they gave up a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter. The injury-ravaged secondary was shredded by Cincinnati quarterback Joe Flacco who threw for 470 yards in the 47-42 shootout.
Chicago returns home Sunday hoping for a more conventional game against the Giants (2-7) in Week 10. It’s been a difficult season in the Big Apple with a bad record exacerbated by season-ending injuries to star wide receiver Malik Nabers and promising rookie running back Cam Skattebo.
New York’s offense has received a boost from rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart who has been making plays with his arm and his feet since taking over for Russell Wilson in Week 3. WR Wan’Dale Robinson has emerged as Dart’s top target after the injury to Nabers and overall they sit in the middle of the pack in most offensive categories.
The Giants defense has not been good in 2025, especially the run defense, which is worse than every team outside of the Bengals. They give up an average of 27.7 points a game, in the bottom 10 of the NFL. One bright spot is defensive end Brian Burns, who leads the entire league with 11 sacks.
The record might not reflect it but New York has definitely not been a pushover this season. They beat the defending champion Eagles and nearly toppled the first place Broncos just two weeks ago. The Bears are incredibly lucky they survived last week and the defense needs to step up if they want to make sure they take this game.
Where to Watch/Listen
- Sunday, November 9 at 12:00pm CT on FOX, WBBM Radio (English), and WRTO Radio (Spanish).
Keys to Victory
Here are my keys to Sunday’s game. If these things happen, the Bears should have a shot to win.
- Caleb Williams needs to build on a good performance. The young quarterback played one of his best games against the horrible Cincinnati defense. Hopefully, he can take some confidence into this game against a team that isn’t much better defensively.
- Keep pounding the ball on the ground. Kyle Monangai had a huge game filling in for the injured D’Andre Swift against the Bengals. The Giants run defense is also horrible so it’s another chance for the Bears to rack up yardage.
- Try to keep Dart contained in the pocket. New York’s QB is a big threat to run so Chicago needs to keep him in the pocket as much as possible and force him to throw the ball.
- Make sure Brian Burns doesn’t beat you. The Giants star pass rusher could single-handedly make it a long day for Williams and company. The Bears need to give him extra attention to prevent that.
Don’t Tell Me the Odds
Chicago is favored by 4.5 points at home against New York Sunday. Vegas expects a fairly high score with the over/under set at 46.5.
It’s Football Weather
It’s going to be cold and windy at Soldier Field this Sunday afternoon with a temperature of 37 and a 21 mile-an-hour wind out of the northwest.
My Prediction
The weather for the game Sunday will probably have an impact on the throwing game so running is going to be important in this one. That should be a big advantage for the Bears and they should grind out a 24-14 victory to get to 6-3.
