This is Jaquan Brisker’s Final Chance with the Chicago Bears

Coming to the Chicago Bears with a lot of promise, Jaquan Brisker missed the mark so far.

There is one player on the Chicago Bears defense we have wanted to see more of.

The Chicago Bears have always been known for having a fearsome defense. Historically, they have had some of the best defenders to ever walk onto a football field. Lately, it seems like they have fewer guys who are rock stars. Instead, it feels like there are players that come in with a lot of hype only to be let downs who are let go by the Bears or traded away.

There is one player that the Bears thought would end up the second coming of a guy like Dave Duerson or Eddie Jackson. He was thought to be able to become a top-of-the-line player at the safety position.

The player is Jaquan Brisker.

The Troubles Brisker Has Suffered

Brisker has started the past few seasons with such promise. But he ends up hitting a huge snag along the way. That snag is concussions. He has had three known concussions in the three years he has been in the league. It’s possible that he could have had more, too. Brisker has missed significant time. The Bears have lost one of their most important high-impact players when he is out.

He appears healthy and ready to go for this season, but how long will he be in the lineup? How long will it be before he suffers another concussion and is out for a long period? Brisker appears to be likely to get another concussion, and another one could knock him out permanently.

It’s important to recognize that this may be the last chance Brisker gets to make his mark in the league with the Bears. If he ends up with another concussion and misses any time, he’s likely to be sent packing and won’t see time with another team, or the Bears, again.

Can Brisker Have a Future with the Bears?

Yes, he can.

The Chicago Bears staff certainly wants to see Brisker on the field playing. The defense is better with him out there. But they also can’t shy away from looking for other talent at the position, knowing Brisker is one hit away from being out for good. They must find a backup who can step in and play well in his absence.

It’s up to Brisker’s body to decide what he can take and how much more football he has left to play. Perhaps, for his own sake, should he get another concussion, he might want to step away from football for good. Honestly, no team will roll the dice with him again anyway if he suffers another head injury.

Are the Bears Better with Brisker?

The Bears’ defense is better with Brisker, and that is clear. The coaching staff agrees that having him in there makes them better, and several members of the media feel the same way. The Bears need him in the lineup, or they need to find someone else to replace him with the impact and ability he can have.

Just think, Brisker has only scratched the surface of what he can do. He’s a top-of-the-line safety when healthy. We haven’t seen much out of him yet because he always has a concussion.

The Bears need Brisker to be healthy and ready to go this coming season. The defense can be better with him on it. Hopefully, he will stay healthy and be a force in the secondary for the Chicago Bears in 2025.
